It’s hard for everybody to go to the gym and lead a healthy lifestyle as well as dealing with work and everything else that can get in the way. A lot of people talk about dedication and always making the time to get your exercise in, but sometimes it just is impossible, or it feels impossible. What I want to do is try to give you some tips on how to live a normal life and still be able to reach your goals without sacrificing time that could be dedicated to relaxing. Because let’s face it, we all time to need to relax.
1: Have a timetable for when you are going to go to the gym and what exercises you will be doing. This will help you feel as though you have a contract with yourself to do what you have written down.
2: To get all the benefits of working and sweating at the gym you need to eat clean and you need to eat frequently. If you are trying to gain muscle weight then you should eat around 6 meals a day full of protein and veg with carbs for after workouts. Making these meals can be a chore so here are a few tips to try and keep your nutrition up.
Dedicate a couple of hours 2 nights in the week to making a few large meals that you can freeze for the following days and then in no time you have your main bulk of your bulking diet.
Doing lots of meals in one evening takes time so if you have the money and the space, get a small TV to put in the Kitchen so you can watch what you want while making it, listening to the TV will help you zone out of the task you are doing and it will feel less like a chore. If you don’t have the funds or space, why not move your laptop in the kitchen and stick on a DVD; I do this and to make sure I don’t spill anything on it I put the laptop on a cereal box on its side.
4: If you can hire a locker at your gym then this will mean you won’t have to lug your gear to and from the gym each time. You can keep spare T-shirts and essentials for the week and then wash and change them once they are all used.
5: Reward yourself – Set yourself some targets; for example. If you go to the gym 4 times a week for a whole month then you will treat yourself. This doesn’t mean going to the nearest all you can eat buffet. But buy yourself something gym related like wide grips or a skipping rope. This way you have an extra incentive to follow your time table and each month you have something new to play with and add into your routines.
These are a few things to help you fit your exercise and fitness goals around your daily life. Sometimes work gets in the way of living our lives but we can always try to use the time we have out of work wisely.

Great read, I know this is achievable as I'm a perfect example. at 32 years young I have two children as well as a heating and plumbing company to run. I find that training de-stresses me before work and gives me the jolt I need to start the day. I'm in fairly good shape and have my cheat meals every now and then, all in moderation. Start small and listen to your body, dont go bull at a gate for the 50kg's as you'll probably get an injury. For anybody who thinks its impossible then I will argue until blue in the face, Training and exercising should be enjoyable and less of a choir to get rid of the love handles for a function etc. , It is much more rewarding this way. Jamie.
You are an example to us all! Thanks for the comment
